He said other key industries or sectors of the economy such as apparel and freight forwarders are represented by similar forums.
"We're also trying to develop a young members club as we feel it is important for youth to get involved in logistics." The first logistics directors' forum is to be organised next month by the Sri Lanka branch of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) which groups professionals in the industry.
"The aim is to get industry leaders together and work on common initiatives," CILT chairman Saliya Senanayake told LBO.
"The CILT, as an independent body, can provide a platform for others to come forward with views and deliberations on key issues."
Sri Lanka's transport professionals are keen on promoting the island as a hub for air and sea transport to exploit its location.
