Feb 24, 2011 (LBO) - The heads of east Asian central banks begin a meeting in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo Friday to discuss challenges facing monetary authorities in emerging markets after the global financial crisis. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka will host the 46th South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Governors’ conference, high-level seminar and 30th SEACEN Board of Governors’ meeting during 25-26 February 2011, a statement said.

It is one of the main events to be held along with the bank's 60th Anniversary celebrations.

Sri Lankan central bank governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal will chair the SEACEN Board of Governors for the 2011/12 operating year.

Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony Friday.

Senior officials and prominent speakers participating at the conference include Naoyuki Shinohara, IMF Deputy Managing Director, Jaime Caruana, General Manager, Bank for International Settlement, Charles Goodhart of the London School of Economics and Political Science and Y.V. Reddy, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
