Sri Lanka’s opporsition to bring a no confidence motion against Ravi Karunanayake

Apr 18, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's opposition is planning to bring a no confidence motion against a cabinet Minister, a senior opposition politician speaking to LBO in anonymity said yesterday. The parliamentarian said that the decision was taken at the Carlton House in Tangalle, on 16th Thursday. A group of UPFA members who gathered at residence of the former president Rajapakse, had discussed and signed the motion, the Minister said.

Some of the senior opposition politicians who are behind this move believe that the investigation on corruption should not be aimed only at the opposition politicians. The no confidence motion is expected to be tabled in the Parliament in the coming week. It would be interesting to see how the Prime Minister and the other government members will respond to the no confidence motion and defend their colleague, in the backdrop of the ongoing investigation by bribery and corruption commission on Governor of Central Bank.
