SriLankan Airlines increases flight frequency to Chennai
Apr 16, 2015 (LBO) - SriLankan Airlines has increased its flight frequency to Chennai from today by adding a fourth flight from Colombo to the Southern Indian city, the carrier said in a statement.
“The new service will be operational from today (16).”
Commenting on the occasion, Saminda Perera, General Manager Sales Worldwide said in the statement, Chennai is a key market for us and one of the fastest growing cities in southern India,”
“While we have always received a strong response from this market, Chennai serves as a key business hub for all multinational corporations. This daily flight will cater to growing business, corporate and leisure demand between Sri Lanka and Chennai."
He further added, the increased frequency also reinforces our commitment to Chennai and will strengthen the deep commercial and bilateral ties between India & Sri Lanka.
The addition of this flight brings the total frequency of flights between Sri Lanka and India to 86 flights per week, the statement said.
“The purpose of re-launching these flights is to increase frequency of the airline, providing passengers with added convenience."
With over 225,000 arrivals on SriLankan Airlines from Chennai to Colombo in the past year, the daily flight will appeal to both business and leisure customers providing them with better connectivity to destinations beyond Sri Lanka and more options for their travel convenience, the statement said.
