Traffic police chief Lucky Peiris said a passenger was killed Monday when the driver lost control of his bus which crashed into a coconut tree in the same police area where the country's worst train-bus accident occurred last week.

"There is so much indiscipline among private bus drivers and they don't seem to have learned the lesson from last week's crash," Peiris told AFP.

"We are deploying our men in full strength for an intensive crackdown from Tuesday.
