Shamindra Kulamannage: How does the Prime Minister, who wants to maintain a big government, plan to make the State institutions efficient and responsive to public needs?

Ajith Nivard Cabral: That a big government is inefficient is a fallacy. What if you lose the best 50 percent while down sizing?

The last government tried to do it. Unfortunately it didn’t go through.

It would have ended in a disaster.

The fact that there should be a government is indisputable.

Governments should support the business sector, the people and other functions.
