"Airlines are starting to ask for aircrew who have got degrees as well," says Micheal Dobson, head of Gateway Graduate School.
"Lufthansa (of Germany) for example have just they will not start anymore new crew unless they have got a degree.
So we are answering a demand from the airline industry.
"And that is going to be a lot cheaper than if people did it in the UK or United States, so we are expecting students to come here from the United States and UK to do their degree with us.
"
Gateway Graduate School, is a three year old higher education institute belonging a group that already runs a network of primary and secondary schools in the island.
Dobson says the school is in talks with Buckinghamshire University to offer their program in Colombo after validation.
Gateway will tie up with Skyline Aviation, a Sri Lanka based flying school for pilot training.
