Post and Telecom Ministry Secretary said only two unions are involved in the strike, with no request for negotiations yet.

Secretary to the Telecommunications Ministry C Maliyadde said the two unions had written to the ministry about the proposed trade union action, but had not called for a meeting or proposed remedies to their grievances.

A meeting however was scheduled between trade unions and the postal department’s management for Tuesday evening.

Officials with the Post Master General’s officials confirmed the meeting between the management and the trade unions but were unable to disclose the issues that were to be taken up.
