False Papers

Sept 19, 2011 (LBO) - A Sri Lankan student seeking to study in the United Kingdom was arrested for fraud because she submitted a false education certificate with her visa application, the British high commission said. "They have also have been banned from travelling to the UK for ten years." "The UK Border Agency referred the case to the Sri Lankan police," it said in a statement. "The applicant claims that she paid an agent to provide her with the false document."

In addition to the police investigation, the applicant also faces a ban of 10 years on all travel to the UK.

Please do not submit false documents or listen to people who tell you to do so," the statement quoted UK Border Agency’s Entry Clearance Manager, Claire Murray, as saying.

"We check documents thoroughly and, whenever we discover deception, we do not hesitate to take robust action against applicants and agents who supply false documents.

The UK Border Agency in Colombo has identified over 550 false documents submitted by Tier 4 student applicants so far this year, the statement said.

"All applicants who have provided a false document as part of their student visa application have had their visa application refused.
