The supreme court last month rapped former president Chandrika Kumaratunga for abuse of power and reversed the controversial transfer of the Water's Edge land to the private developer in a landmark case.
Kumaratunga who was involved in the sale of the land was ordered to pay three million rupees as compensation.
The parliament, and the ministries of defence and power are among the institutions that have asked for land at the Water's Edge, said Prathap Ramanujam, acting chairman of the government's Urban Development Authority (UDA).
