Oct 20, 2014 (LBO) – Sri Lanka to construct and rehabilitate about 537 rural bridges with a credit facility of 162 million US dollars, provided by The Deutsche Bank AG (London) and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFG Ltd Finance ministry of Sri Lanka said. Added to that the ministry says the development of these bridges will link rural communities with the main stream of development and ensure equal distribution of the country’s development benefits between urban, rural and estate sector.
The Project will be implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development. The bridges are with lengths of 6 to 30 meters situated island wide.
The ministry says construction of these bridges will facilitate in creating opportunities for rural and estate communities residing in remote areas connecting a number of villages while enhancing the quality of living standards of the people in the areas.
