Apr 30, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Dialog Axia, its parent Telekom Malaysia, UK's Vodafone and Middle Eastern operators are teaming up to build an 8,000 kilometer undersea cable system, consortium partner Reliance Industries Limited of India said.

Reliance Industries said the construction and maintenance and supply contract was inked in Kuala Lumpur on May 30.


"The construction of this cable system is a clear indication of the growing demand for bandwidth at the participating countries," Reliance said in a statement.

"The markets are expected to see strong growth with the continuous efforts in embracing the broadband technologies and infrastructure expansion.
