Aug 23, 2011 (LBO) - Virtusa, a US-based firm which has a development centre in Sri Lanka, has struck a deal with the island's vocational training body to provide information technology skills to its graduates. Virtusa, headquartered in Massachusetts, has offices in the United States and the United Kingdom, and global delivery centres in India and Sri Lanka. The deal is the first project under a partnership formed last month between the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) and Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) to enhance the IT skills of graduates in the country.

Virtusa Corporation, a global IT services company offering business consulting and outsourcing services, has volunteered to share its training curricular with the VTA, a statement said.

VTA, Sri Lanka’s largest state-owned training body, will use the curriculum to provide training for over 3,000 students in 270 Vocational Training Centres island wide.
