Heraymila is the overseas investment arm of a wealthy Saudi Arabian family, Al Mashal. The firm has bought a stockbroker in Sri Lanka and is setting up fund management and investment banking units.
Its local operation is headed by Ravi Abeysuriya, who headed the Sri Lanka unit of Amba Research, a US-based investment research outsourcing firm that has catered to international capital markets.
The firm will first start researching Sri Lanka companies for its own work.
Abeysuriya says the firm has already hired four Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holders which is the highest for a Sri Lankan stock brokerage.
"All our staff will abide by CFA code of ethics," Abeysuriya said.
