The Board of Investment said IDC and information technology outsourcing were seen as businesses with growth potential.
"The Board of Investment has granted investment approval to Proficinity Limited to develop software and provide data hosting and IT-enabled services," it said.
The unit of PC House will provide employment to 250 people.
"The company intends to launch itself to cater to the outsourcing requirements of the local and foreign markets," the statement said.
"Proficinity Limited is planning to move into Internet Data Centre operations with the expectation of providing hosted and managed data services to corporate and public sectors.
PCH, having identified the potential for BPO services in Sri Lanka, has already started operations by providing data conversion and digitising services to some of the island's public sector institutions.
