Sri Lanka Telecom plans to roll out its fixed-line CDMA network by the end of the month and test delivery of services such as on-demand video on its copper-line network this year, a company official said Friday.





Sri Lanka Telecom plans to roll out its fixed-line CDMA network by the end of the month and test delivery of services such as on-demand video on its copper-line network this year, a company official said Friday. Sri Lanka Telecom, which has around 85% of Sri Lanka's fixed-line telecommunications market, is aiming to sell 150,000 connections which use CDMA technology within 12 months.









Details on pricing have not yet been released.

China's ZTE Corp. will provide some of the technology and infrastructure for the rollout, Mohan Ratnayake, spokesman for Sri Lanka Telecom, said.

"The CDMA network and new generation network switches should contribute to our bottom-line next year," he added, without elaborating.

Ratnayake said value-added services such as on-demand video, would be introduced early next year.
