"According to the defence sources in the battlefront, the body was found after an unsuccessful and half-hearted attempt by the LTTE (Tamil Tiger) cadres to evacuate their leader's son early this morning," the defence ministry statement said.
It also said special forces soldiers also found bodies of three key Tiger leaders identified as Nadeshan, Pulidevan and Ramesh during the mopping up operations in the area.
"According to the latest information, the remaining Tiger cadres are now boxed into a 100m x 100m area," it said.
Nadeshan, who was a former police constable of the Sri Lanka police, is known to be the political head of the outfit.
Pulidevan was known to the head of "LTTE peace secretariat" while Ramesh was one of the most senior special military leader of the outfit.
