Sri Lanka air taxi on honeymoon flight

June 28, 2011 (LBO) - SriLankan Air Taxi, a floatplane service operated by Sri Lanka's state-run national carrier has carried its first honeymoon couple to a hotel in the South of the island.









"It was a fantastic ride and we both enjoyed the breathtaking scenery on a clear sunny day and above all being up in the skies all by ourselves on our special day," a statement from SriLankan Airlines quoted the groom, Danushka Magage as saying.

The floatplane had taken off from a dock in Peliyagoda, just north of Sri Lanka's capital Colombo and carried the couple to Koggala, in the island's south within 30 minutes.

The aircraft flies at an altitude of around 1,500 to 2,000 feet.

On scheduled services the air taxi service lands on Bentota River, Mawella Lagoon in Dikwella, Polgolla Reservior in Kandy and Lake Gregory in Nuwara Eliya.

Charter flights are operated to Castlereagh Reservoir, Tissamaharama and Amparai.
