"Though it is a one time fee, a patient can visit many times at no extra cost," Ceylinco Insurance executive director Ajith Gunewardena said.
Children under the age of 18 could be included in the policy for 250 rupees.
Ceylinco says apart from Colombo, they have so far opened 'Medi Spots' in Galle, Panadura, Embilipitiya, Katunayaka and Kandy.
Ceylinco says its Medi Spots are manned by doctors and nurses who can diagnose illnesses, provide treatment, administer certain drugs and dress specific injuries.
The insurance policy does not cover the cost of treatment.
Health minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says the expansion of private healthcare system would reduce the burden on the government health services.
Early diagnosis also helped reduce treatment costs, he said. .
