"So among the management we have two Asians reflecting the views of the two biggest Asian countries."
The Fund is trying to improve the image of the IMF which is regarded with suspicion in many Asian countries. Apart from giving more voting power to Asian countries, the Fund also wants to increase the number of Asians on its staff, IMF managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said.
"I'm doing my best to have in the IMF less US citizens and more Asians and more people from other parts of the world," he told a news conference as the Asia 21 Conference organised by the IMF in Daejeon, Korea.
The IMF will provide space for Asian voices as the fast-growing region's share of the global economy increases.
The IMF intends to complete a move to increase Asia’s voting power in the Fund when the G-20 group of advanced countries have a summit in Seoul in November.
