This year’s edition of Sri Lanka’s premier corporate quiz, The Global Commerce Quiz for the Governor’s Challenge Trophy will be staged at the Galadari Hotel August 28.
With around 50 organizations participating annually, this event is widely regarded as the blue-ribbon corporate quiz in Sri Lanka. It is conducted by the Sri Lanka chapter of the International Quizzing Association (IQA), the world’s premier quiz organization, the Shippers’ Academy, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
The Global Commerce Quiz, a table quiz comprising of five-member teams
from corporates, will see the contestants testing their knowledge on a wide
range of subjects covering international trade, transport, current affairs, and general knowledge.
Renowned quiz master Ruwan Senanayake, the Country Representative of the Ireland-based International Quizzing Association, will be conducting the quiz this year as well. It will be conducted as per IQA regulations and standards, which are considered the benchmark in international quizzing.
Ruwan, a veteran in the field of quizzing, has over two decades of experience in conducting corporate quizzes in both in Sri Lanka and Australia.
He is also the author of QuiziPedia and its sequel QuiziPedia 2, published in 2013 and 2018 respectively. He holds master’s degrees from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and RMIT University, Australia.
Speaking to Lanka Business Online, Nipunika Wijeratne, a experienced quizzer who represents The People’s Bank said, she and her team eagerly await this event, as the standard of the questions set by IQA differentiates this competition from other events held in Sri Lanka. “Participating in IQA-organized quizzes is both challenging and enrichening” Nipunika said.
