Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping re-assumes duties

Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed Maharoof re-assumed duties today (30.07.19) as the Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping. The function took place at the Deputy Minister’s office of Ports and Shipping.

Expressing views after re-assuming duties, Hon. Deputy Minister stated that he regretted the Easter Sunday attacks and accordingly all Muslim Ministers resigned from portfolios.

“However, considering Sri Lanka’s future development and coexistence as advised by the Chief Buddhist incumbents and Muslim religious leaders we decided to re-assume duties,” Hon. Deputy Minister said.

He further said that he was proud to represent the Parliament from Trincomalee District would extend his fullest support to develop the Port of Trincomalee as a prime port that contributes towards national development.

Managing Director of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Capt.Athula Hewavitharana and several higher officers and employees of SLPA also participated the occasion.
