Sri Lanka to build 400MW power plant in Hambantota
Dec 07, 2017 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's government has given the cabinet nod for the establishment of a 400 MW natural gas power plant in Hambantota, a statement said.
"Above power plant with the objective of providing electricity to industrial zone to be established in Hambantota will be implemented under the Partnership of Ceylon Electricity Board and China Machinery Engineering Corporation which is nominated by the Government of China," a recent report on the latest cabinet decisions said.
The proposal was made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs.
