May 18, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet has approved a proposal made by the President to recognize the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) as a non-state independent body.
The proposal has been made after considering that the loan obtained from Mahapola Trust Fund was fully settled.
SLIIT was established in 1999 with a loan granted by Mahapola Trust Fund and the institute now offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
It accommodates over 7,000 students, including international students from various regions in the world.

More than 9,000 alumni have graduated from their three faculties: Business, Computer and Engineering.
According to the graduate Tracer Studies of 2014/2015 nearly 90 percent of their Bachelor degree graduates find full-time employment within six months of course completion.
