May 18, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s government plans to launch a pilot project introducing flexible working hours for the public sector currently serving in offices situated in Battaramulla area.
Under this project public sector workers in Battaramulla area will be given the initial opportunity of working under flexible hours.
Cabinet nod has been received to implement this project enabling officers to commence their work between 7.30 am to 9.15 am, and to switch off between 3.15 pm to 5.00 pm after completing the prescribed working hours.
Cabinet approval has also been granted to this proposal submitted by Megapolis Minister Champika Ranawaka to issue the relevant public administration circular in this regard.
A recent study conducted in the Battaramulla area has found out that 58 percent of officials travelling to work by their own vehicles or office vehicles opt to change their time of commencement of work from 7 am to 9.
