Foreign Employment Bureau collects Rs56mn from illegal job agencies

June 13, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has conducted 56 raids during the first five months of this year and collected 56 million rupees illegally collected by job agencies.





The cash collected through these investigations have already handed over to the respective individuals who have paid for agencies for different activities.

The bureau said 44 raids have been directly carried out by the special investigation division and 12 complaints for raids received from the bureau’s special unit located at the airport. Maintaining illegal foreign employment agencies, attempting to send younger women for foreign employment, making fake promises regarding foreign employments, and compiling fake documents were among the offenses.





The legal division of the bureau is to take legal action against 50 cases.
