World’s oldest barbershop to set up in Sri Lanka

Apr 19, 2016 (LBO) – The world's oldest barbershop, Truefitt & Hill, is to start business in Sri Lanka and is looking for suitable partners, a statement said. “After the successful opening of this international barber shop in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, we are very eager to expand in Sri Lanka,” Istayak Ansari, Director, Lloyds Luxuries said. “We are looking for suitable partners to enter into franchise and distribution agreements in Sri Lanka and extend exclusive rights for this territory.” The oldest barbershop, as recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2014, began in fashionable Mayfair in 1805, the year of Nelson's victorious Battle at Cape Trafalgar. Oscar Wilde, Charles Dickens, Beau Brummell, Lord Byron and Frank Sinatra's favourite barbershop - Truefitt & Hill, is a company brought to India by Lloyds Luxuries. The company acquired the master franchise License for not just India but also Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar and Vietnam. "I understand that Sri Lanka has considerable luxury markets,”  Katie Broughton of Truefitt & Hill said. “It makes a lot of sense for us to enter these markets and we believe that it will be a great success in any territory in which men appreciate the importance of being flawlessly groomed.” Truefitt & Hill is a Royal Warrant Holder of Appointment to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and served the British Royal Family throughout the past two centuries. Started by Istayak Ansari and Krishna Gupta in 2014, Lloyds Luxuries aims at creating an atmosphere of total relaxation and ultimate comfort for its customers. “Our past patrons literally shaped and mapped the course of world’s history, while some of our current patrons continue to do so today.” Ansari added.
