Sri Lanka is one of the fastest growing markets in South Asia says Huawei
Sep 29, 2015 (LBO) – As Sri Lanka is one of the fastest growing market in South Asia in smart phone segment of Chinese mobile maker, Huawei, says it plans to expand the market share though increasing distribution network targeting a revenue of 10 billion rupees by 2016.
“Sri Lanka has grown to be one of the key geographies in the South East Asia Regions for Huawei. We remain committed and will continue to invest further in the country, offering our valued customers and all out stakeholders an experience which is truly inspiring.” Henry Liu, country head of Huawei Device Sri Lanka told at a media conference held today.
Huawei reports an increase of 300 percent of sales growth in the first half of 2015, making it the best year in terms of sales volume since its smartphone operation was launched in 2012, official said.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the overall mobile phone market in Sri Lanka touched 1 million mark in Q4 2014. Smart phones contributed approximately 22 percent to the overall mobile phone market as the demand observed a continuous surge in the year.
The same report says, Huawei enjoys 18 percent of the Island’s smartphones segment.
The company revealed that Western Province has over 50 percent of total sales share in Sri Lanka with South -16 percent, Central – 17 percent, North & East – 21 percent, as other high performing regions.
Huawei plans to increase the distribution network to 30 sales points by third quarter of 2015 and to 50 by second quarter of year 2016.
“This will make Huawei the most accessible smartphone brand in Sri Lanka,” Stanley Mascarenhas, marketing manager of Huawei Smartphones Sri Lanka said.
“With the aggressive distribution focus we will ensure our service offering will be of excellent quality.”
